Sahara Samaj of Bhirkuna village, Labing celebrates foundation day in a grand manner.

Gyalshing, October 8 (IPR): Sahara Samaj, a registered local NGO based in Bhirkuna village, Labing under Yuksam-Tashiding constituency, celebrated its 4th foundation day in a grand manner,today.
The ten-day-long celebration, which began on September 29 with a futsal tournament and cultural events, concluded today with the finals of the Open Women’s and Men’s Futsal Tournament along with a variety of cultural and scholastic programmes.
A total of 38-teams participated in the Open Men’s Futsal Tournament, which formed a major highlight of the event. The celebration also featured quiz competitions among feeder schools under Gerethang-Labing Gram Panchayat, a tug-of-war contest among local youths, and vibrant cultural performances.
The programme was graced by Advisor to the State Medicinal Plants Board, Government of Sikkim, Mr NB Limboo as the Chief Guest. He attended the event on behalf of the area MLA and Minister Mr Tshering T Bhutia, who is currently on an official tour in New Delhi. The Chief Guest was accompanied by OSD to Tourism & Civil Aviation department Mr Mingma Lepcha, OSD Yuksam-Tashiding Mr Basant Tamang and other local dignitaries.
This year’s celebration carried the theme of the "Nasha Muktha Abhiyan" along with the Clean and Green Environment initiative of the State Government.
On the occasion, several individuals and stakeholders were also felicitated by the Sewalung Samaj for their valuable contributions to society.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest congratulated Sahara Samaj on its successful 4th foundation day and lauded its continuous service in social upliftment and service in the society. He also conveyed the warm regards and best wishes of the Minister-cum-Area MLA Mr Tshering T Bhutia, to the members of Sahara Samaj and the public.
