SP Soreng Conducts Cyber Fraud Awareness Programme at Soreng

Soreng, July 3 (IPR): Superintendent of Police (SP) Soreng, Mr Nahkul Pradhan, conducted a Cyber Fraud Awareness programme for members of the Taxi Drivers’ Association, stakeholders, and the general public at the Taxi Stand in Soreng today.
Addressing the gathering, SP Nahkul Pradhan elaborated on the various forms of cyber fraud and urged everyone to remain vigilant against online scams. He explained the common methods used by cybercriminals and encouraged the public to exercise caution while using digital platforms.
He also informed the participants that the Sikkim Police has declared July as Cyber Fraud Awareness Month to promote awareness and strengthen public preparedness against cybercrime.
Highlighting the available support systems, SP Nahkul Pradhan informed the public about the Cyber Helpline-1930, a 24×7 service operated from the Police Headquarters in Gangtok, as well as the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in. He advised victims of cyber fraud to report incidents immediately through the helpline or the portal so that prompt action can be taken, including freezing the fraudster’s bank account to help prevent further financial loss.
