SISCO Bank conducts its 25th Annual General Meeting
Gangtok, June 28(IPR): The 25th Annual General Meeting and Commemoration of the 25th Anniversary of Sikkim State Co-operative Bank Ltd. was held at a local hotel in Gangtok, today
The meeting was held in terms of Section 32(1) of the Sikkim State Co-operative Societies Act, 1978 read with Bye-Law No 30 of the Bye-Laws of the Bank.
The meeting had the presence of the Vice Chairman of the Bank, Mr Kishore Kumar Sharma, the Board of Directors, Mr Raj Pradhan, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, Department of Co-operation, Government of Sikkim, Mr Tempa Bhutia, Assistant General Manager, NABARD, Sikkim R.O and the representatives of various MPCS, former Directors and individual shareholders of the Bank
Mr. Kishore Kumar Sharma, Vice Chairman, highlighted the share capital contributions made by the state government, societies, and individuals. He also provided an overview of Deposits, Borrowings, Loans and Advances, Investments, Non-Performing Assets, Inspections/Audits, Board Meetings, Profits, and Dividend Declarations. Additionally, he expressed his sincere gratitude for the participation of all the dignitaries and district representatives.
In her welcome address, Ms Pema Chenzom, Managing Director, highlighted the bank's financial position and developments during the year 2023-24. She urged fellow co-operators to foster a culture of timely repayments in primary societies, which would enable the bank to extend more loans for the state's development. She also presented the Fact Sheet and the bank's financial position. Additionally, she thanked the Chief Minister for allotting land for the construction of the Bank's Head Office.
Mr Tempa C. Bhutia, General Manager cum Office Incharge, NABARD, emphasised the organisation’s collaboration with SISCO Bank to enhance the state's banking sector. He detailed various NABARD schemes, urged timely repayment of loan instalments, and cautioned against prevalent fraud and scams. Additionally, he underscored the importance of conducting Financial Literacy workshops.
Mr Bivash Lamichaney, Deputy General Manager, presented the Agenda Items in accordance with Section 32(1) of the Sikkim Co-operative Societies Act, 1978 and Bye-Laws No. 30 of the Bank.
On the occasion, SISCO Bank felicitated the best-performing MPCS for the Financial Year 2023-2024 to the following.

3. Rey Mindu MPCS
The meeting included an interactive session where members presented their queries.
The Vote of Thanks was proposed by Mr. R.L. Sharma, General Manager.
