SIFF 2026 Hosts Session on International Co-Production with North East India

Gangtok, March 21(IPR): As part of the ongoing Sikkim International Film Festival (SIFF) Market Schedule 2026, a session on “International Co-Production With North East India” was held at Chintan Bhawan, today.
Sikkim International Film Festival 2026 is being organised by the Information and Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC).
The Speaker on the panel were Third Secretary cum Vice Consul, Head, Philippine, Mr Ronn Joshua Bautista, Secretary, IPR, Ms Annapurna Alley, Actor from Bhutan, Ms Kinley Eudruma, Actor from Bhutan, Ms Tshering Dolkar.
The session was moderated by the Founder of NR Group, Mr Nitesh Rohit.
The discussion centred on the growing potential of international co-productions involving North East India and neighbouring regions. The speakers highlighted the importance of cross-border collaboration in cinema, the exchange of creative ideas and the need to build stronger networks between filmmakers, producers and cultural institutions. They also shared insights on how the North East, with its unique cultural richness, landscapes and storytelling traditions, offers immense opportunities for collaborative filmmaking at the international level.
The panel also shared insights in the co-production strategies, film production in the Philippines, and Bhutanese cinema, while elaborating on co-production market distribution.
The panel further underlined the role of cinema as a means of cultural diplomacy and emphasised the importance of creating platforms that support partnerships between regional and international filmmakers.
