SATF Relay Adventure Team Reaches Teesta for an Adrenaline-Fuelled Rafting Experience
Gangtok, Nov 2 (IPR): The thrill of adventure reached a new high at the Sikkim Adventure Tourism Fest 2026 as participants of the first-ever Relay Adventure Package took on the roaring waters of the River Teesta today, navigating its powerful currents and exhilarating rapids in an adrenaline-pumping river rafting expedition.
The excitement, coupled with the scenic natural surroundings, added another thrilling dimension to the week-long festival.
Earlier, the relay adventure began with a helicopter sortie carrying the relay participants from the Gangtok Helipad, situated at an elevation of approximately 1,650 metres above sea level, to Greenfield Pakyong Airport.
From there, the entourage proceeded by jeep safari to Thumki Dara, where participants took to the skies through paragliding flights, soaring over the scenic landscape before landing at Rorathang.
Following the aerial adventure, participants were transported by road to Rangpo, where they embarked on an exciting river rafting expedition from Rangpo River along the Teesta, navigating its rushing currents and challenging rapids.
The adventure-packed expedition subsequently continued towards Linkhim Tar, Namthang, the main festival venue, where participants joined the other adventure activities lined up as part of the week-long festival.
It may be mentioned here that the Sikkim Adventure Tourism Fest 2026 (SATF 2026), organised by the Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, is being held from Nov 1-7 at Linkhim Tar, Namthang, Namchi district, featuring a range of adventure activities across air, land and water.
The relay adventure package constitutes a significant highlight of SAFT 2026, bringing together a remarkable mix of adventure experiences, taking participants from the elevated skies to the rugged mountain terrain and across varying landscapes that offer a taste of Sikkim’s natural diversity.
The paragliding stretch further adds another dimension to the journey, offering participants a thrilling aerial experience, while the river rafting leg promises an adventure-filled encounter with the mighty Teesta and its colossal rapids.
