Relief Cheques Distributed, At Singlitam Relief Camp
Gyalshing, September 29 (IPR): The District Collector-cum-Magistrate, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa, visited the Relief Camp at Singlitam today. Eight households beneficiaries affected due to the recently occured landslide at Rimbi area were handed over ex-gratia relief cheques as a part of the ongoing relief and rehabilitation measures.
The District Collector was accompanied by Zilla Adhakshya, Mr. Ds Limboo; Chairman, Rural Development Department, Mr Narayan Khatiwada; Legal Consultant to the Chief Minister, Ms Puja Lamichaney; SDM Yuksam, Mr Jigme Bhutia; Additional Director Agriculture/Horticulture Department, Mr Karma Sherpa; DPO DDMA Mr Ganesh Rai; DIO IPRD Mr Rajen Tamang; Panchayat President Timbrong GPU, Mr Mangal Rai and Ward Panchayat Sonam Zangmu Lepcha along with officials from the Forest and Police Departments and other concerned departments.
Addressing the affected families, Mr Denzongpa assured them of the continued efforts of the District Administration, Gyalshing, towards extending relief and necessary support. He stated that the collective efforts of Minister-cum-Area MLA, Mr Tshering T. Bhutia, the District Administration and Panchayats had been instrumental in providing immediate relief and support to the affected families.
Mr Denzongpa informed that all requisite measures for the rehabilitation of affected families in safer houses are being considered under the provisions of the Land Bank Scheme and the State Government’s flagship Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY). He stated that efforts were being made towards safer and sustainable arrangements for the affected families.
Speaking on the ex-gratia assistance distributed today, the District Collector advised the beneficiaries to make judicious and appropriate use of the assistance extended to them. He further assured the affected families that the District Administration would continue to monitor the situation closely and extend necessary assistance in coordination with the concerned departments and Panchayats.
The District Collector appealed to the affected families to continue cooperating with the District Administration and the concerned departments during the ongoing relief and rehabilitation process, assuring them of continued support and assistance.
Medical and other support services are also being provided at the relief camp at the Village Administrative Centre, 11-Rimbi Timbroong GPU. A medical camp has been arranged for disaster-affected families, providing medical consultation and medicines, while a Legal Help Desk is facilitating assistance to residents requiring support with document-related issues, including legal assistance.
The Panchayat representatives and one of the recipients of the relief assistance expressed their sincere appreciation to the Chief Minister of Sikkim, the Minister-cum-Area MLA, the District Collector, Gyalshing, and all concerned departments and personnel for their continued efforts in extending timely relief and support to the affected families. They acknowledged the coordinated response of the administration and the sustained assistance being provided to the affected families during this challenging period.
