Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 Mass Cleanliness Day on 21.09.2024
Miss Sahara Hangma Subba (Miss Teen Sikkim Winner 2022, Miss Teen India -Winner 2022, Miss Teen Universe 2022 -Top 10- in Central America) who will be representing Sikkim in Femina Miss India 2024 will take part in ‘Shramdaan’ under Daramdin Block in Soreng District, Sikkim on 21st September, 2024 in response to the clarion call for mass cleanliness drive throughout the State by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Prem Singh Tamang (Golay) in the State Launch of Swachhata Hi Seva 2024 on 17th September,2024.
This year, the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ fortnight will be observed from 17th September to 2nd October,2024 with the theme of ‘Swabhav Swachhata - Sanskaar Swachhata’ (स्वभाव स्वच्छता - संस्कार स्वच्छता) as a prelude to Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October 2024. The objective of SHS 2024 is to facilitate large-scale advocacy and citizen participation for swachhata, mega cleanliness drives & clearing of dirty and difficult garbage spots (black spots), recognize the contribution of sanitation workers, celebrate the achievements over the past decade, and also reaffirm our commitment to the future of sanitation and sustainable waste management in India. This year also marks the 10th anniversary.
As declared by the Hon’ble Chief Minister on 17th Spetmeber,2024, the Home Department has already issued a circular on SHS 2024 with indicative activities for all government departments from 17th September to 2nd October,2024 calling massive participation. The SHS 2024 in the State is being monitored by the State Level Steering Committee headed by the Chief Secretary and coordinated by the Swachh Bharat Mission(Grameen) and Swachh Bharat Mission(Urban) under Rural Development Department and Urban Development Department respectively.
The public representatives, general public, NGOs, SHGs, schools, institutions, panchayats and municipalities will be participating in ‘Shramdaan’ throughout the fortnight as per the Action Plans on SHS 2024 of government line departments, district administration, block and the municipalities.
