Press Fraternity Coordination Meeting for Sikkim International Film Festival 2026
Gangtok, March 17 (IPR):A coordination meeting with members of the press fraternity was held today at the Conference Hall of Information and Public Relations Department in connection with the upcoming Sikkim International Film Festival 2026 (SIFF 2026) scheduled to be held in Gangtok.
The meeting was chaired by Secretary, Information and Public Relations Department, Ms Annapurna Alley; Press Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Yougan Tamang; Director, Information and Public Relations Department, Mr Sunil Kumar Mothay; District Information Officer, Gangtok, Mr Dependra Sharma;District Information Officer, Soreng, Dr Aaron E Lepcha; and Media Coordinator, Chief Minister’s Office, Ms Dichen Ongmu.
The meeting primarily focused on preparations and media coordination for the four-day festival, which will be held in Gangtok from 19th to 22nd March 2026.
SIFF 2026 is envisioned as a significant cultural event that will bring together filmmakers, artists, industry professionals, and cinema enthusiasts from across the country and beyond.
During the meeting, officials highlighted that the festival will feature a curated selection of films, including acclaimed national and international entries, alongside interactive sessions, panel discussions and masterclasses.
Attention was drawn to the role of the media in ensuring wide outreach and effective dissemination of information related to the festival.
Members of the press were briefed on the venues and designated spaces for coverage. They were also informed about the scheduled events and the list of dignitaries expected to attend the festival. Due to limited capacity at certain venues, emphasis was placed on effective coordination among the fraternity, along with adherence to protocol.
Today’s coordination meeting was attended by members of the Press Club of Sikkim and the Journalist Union of Sikkim.
