President and Councillors of Mangan Nagar Panchayat visit DHEW and One Stop Centre
Mangan, June 16: A joint visit was conducted by the President, Mangan Nagar Panchayat, Ms Tshering Doma Bhutia, along with Councillor Smt Phurkit Lepcha and Councillor Shri Hangu Lachenpa, accompanied by the Nodal Officer-cum-CDPO, Mangan, Smt. Sonam Lhaden Lachungpa, to the District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW) and One Stop Centre (OSC) at Pentok, Mangan.
During the visit, the team interacted with the Centre Administrator, Smt. Sonam Phuti Bhutia, who briefed the dignitaries on the functioning of the One Stop Centre, its objectives, and the range of services provided to women facing violence and distress. The roles and responsibilities of the Centre, along with the coordinated support mechanism available through the OSC, were explained in detail by the Centre Administrator and the officials present.
The officials of the One Stop Centre, along with the Nodal Officer, highlighted certain infrastructure requirements for the effective functioning of the Centre. They emphasised the urgent need for fencing around the entire premises to ensure privacy, safety, and security of the beneficiaries. Additionally, the requirement for a proper drainage system was raised to address waterlogging issues and improve the overall condition of the campus.
The visiting dignitaries appreciated the services being rendered by the One Stop Centre and acknowledged its significance as the first facility of its kind in Mangan District, providing integrated support and assistance to women in need. They assured that the concerns raised would be looked into for necessary action to further strengthen the Centre's infrastructure and service delivery.
