Preparatory Meeting Held for Upcoming Silk Route Motoring Event

Pakyong, December 08 (IPR): A coordination meeting regarding the forthcoming “Sikkim – The Silk Route Drive” was held today in the chamber of the District Collector, Pakyong.
The meeting was attended by District Collector Pakyong, Mr Rohan Agawane; ADC Pakyong, Mr Sangay Gyatso Bhutia; Additional Political Secretary (Gangtok) to HCM, Mr Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha; APS (Pakyong) to HCM, Mr Bishal Sharma; SDM (Headquarters), Mr Thendup Lepcha; and SDPO Pakyong, Mr Bikash Rai.
In the briefing, Additional Political Secretary (Gangtok District) to HCM, Mr Tshering Wangchuk Lepcha, outlined key points of the “Sikkim – The Silk Route Drive,” scheduled from December 12 to 15. The event will feature participation from Team Super Car Route, with 17 high-end cars set to take part. The drive is designed to highlight Sikkim’s potential for specialised motoring events, increase visibility at the national level, support tourism-related activity and present Sikkim’s terrain along the historical Silk Route to a wider audience.
District Collector Pakyong assured support from the district administration and coordination with concerned departments to facilitate the event.
It was further mentioned that the convoy of participating cars will arrive at Rangpo on December 12th, where they will be received at Atal Setu. This welcome arrangement will mark the formal commencement of their entry into Sikkim and set the tone for the subsequent stages of the event.
The meeting also reviewed operational requirements, including route preparedness, beautification of key stretches, traffic regulation and logistics essential for the smooth conduct of the drive.
