Prelims for Inter-Constituency Football Tournament Mangan
Mangan, January 7 (IPR):
The District Level First Preliminary Round of the Inter-Constituency Football Tournament was held today at Mangan Public Ground, marking the celebration of Maghe Sankranti 2025. The event was organised by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Sikkim.
The tournament kicked off with an opening match between 30-Dzongu Assembly Constituency and 29-Kabi Lungchok Assembly Constituency. Dzongu emerged victorious with a 6-goal win. The second match featured a competitive clash between the 31-Lachen Mangan Assembly Constituency and the 32-Sangha Assembly Constituency, with Lachen Mangan securing a 5-goal victory.
The Dongzu team will face Lachen Mangan in the next round, on 08.01.2025, with the winner advancing to Jorethang for the quarter-finals
The event was graced by Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Minister for Forest & Environment and MLA of Dzongu, alongside were Ms Chumkee Saring Advisor of the North District Football Association (NDFA), Mr Pawluse Tamang CLC President (North) for Lachen Mangan, Mr Rinzing Chopel Lepcha CLC President (Sangha), Ms Janim Lepcha Joint Director Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Mangan, Mr Ashish Gurung RO Forest and Mr Pintsho Bhutia Deputy Director along with staff from the SYAD, members of NDFA and local residents.
