Political Parties Briefed on Progress of Electoral Roll Revision in Gyalshing
Gyalshing, July 31 (IPR): The District Collector-cum- District Election Officer (DC-cum-DEO) Gyalshing Mr Tenzing D. Denzongpa, chaired the weekly coordination meeting with representatives of recognised political parties to review the progress of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of the Electoral Roll in Gyalshing district.
The meeting commenced with deliberations on the status of claims and objections received from each Assembly Constituency (AC) of the district. Representatives of the recognised political parties were informed of the progress made in processing the applications received under the revision exercise.
The status of Hearings conducted in respect of No Mapping cases during the period from July 16 to July 28 was also reviewed, and the house was apprised of the prescribed guidelines being followed for the disposal of such cases.
The meeting further deliberated on the status of hearings pertaining to Logical Discrepancies in the district, which commenced on July 29 and are scheduled to be completed by August 14. As this period is crucial to ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll, representatives were briefed on the ongoing verification process and informed about the prescribed schedule for the disposal of the identified cases.
During the interaction, the DC-cum-DEO addressed the queries raised in the house and reiterated the importance of close coordination among all stakeholders involved in the revision process to ensure transparency, accuracy and the timely completion of the electoral roll revision. He also urged political party representatives to continue extending their cooperation by assisting eligible electors in resolving their pertinent issues to complete the entire revision process in the stipulated timeframe.
The District Election Cell reaffirmed its commitment to conducting the revision process in a fair, transparent and participatory manner, in accordance with the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, through its weekly coordination meetings with recognised political parties in the district.
The meeting was attended by the ADC (HQ) Gyalshing Ms Tripti Hangma Subba, SDM (HQ) Gyalshing Mr Agni Prasad Chettri, OS District Election Cell (DEC) Gyalshing Ms Kadem Bhutia, representatives of the recognised political parties in the district; and officials of the District Election Cell, Gyalshing.
