Platinum Jubilee Celebration of Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop-Day 8

Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr Jacob Khaling attended the eighth day of the ongoing Platinum Jubilee celebration of Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop, as the chief guest, today.
In his address, the chief guest extended his heartfelt gratitude to the organising committee for the invitation and lauded their efforts in making the event a success. He then highlighted the vast potential of the region across various sectors, urging all stakeholders to remain united and work collectively towards sustainable development. He further acknowledged the MLA Daramdin Constituency, Mr MN Sherpa, congratulating the people for having a representative committed to their welfare and progress.
The chief guest further noted that the Chief Minister, Mr Prem Singh Tamang has shown keen interest in supporting the people of the region and the state as a whole. Mentioning the major project in the constituency, Vrindavan, he informed that the Chief Minister prioritised it for all round development. He further mentioned it as a landmark initiative in the tourism sector, expressing hope that the project will gain global recognition and significantly uplift the region, district and the state. Additionally, he spoke about the government’s ongoing efforts to promote development in various sectors.
Speaking about the traditional dance performances showcased during the event, he stated that the state has made remarkable progress in preserving and promoting its rich culture and heritage. He then touched upon the government’s support for talent haunting programmes, emphasising that such initiatives create valuable opportunities for aspiring individuals, helping them develop skills and dedication. He reiterated that the government is committed to promoting such programmes for holistic development.
The chief guest also commended Ms Jetshen Dohna Lama, who has gained recognition for her performances and informed that she is representing the state at a national level.
Concluding his address, he expressed heartfelt gratitude to all present on the occasion and acknowledged the contributions made by the land donors and the founders.
Initially, the programme commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by the chief guest and present dignitaries, followed by a welcome song entitled “Swagatam” presented by the students of Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop.
The main highlight of the event was an inter-school dance competition, wherein the students showcased traditional dance performances. PM SHRI Government Senior Secondary School, Soreng secured the first position. Don Bosco School, Malbasey and Government Secondary School, Timburbong secured the second and third positions, respectively.
During the programme, the organising committee presented tokens of love to the chief guest and other dignitaries, expressing appreciation for their presence and support.
The day’s event included “Tug of War” competitions, with Bariakhop Ward Number 1 and organising committee emerging as the winners.
The day also witnessed an exhibition football match played between United Veteran Daramdin and Soreng Veteran. The team who emerged victorious was Soreng Veteran.
Present during the event were Chairperson (Skill Development Board) Mrs Mingma Lhamu Sherpa, Zilla Panchayat members, Panchayats, former MLA (Daramdin Constituency) Mr DN Sherpa, Principal (Government Senior Secondary School, Bariakhop) Mrs Binita Basnett, Head of Departments, Head of Offices, officers and officials, teachers and students from various schools.
