Pakyong MPCS Inaugurates PMBJP Unit; Tareythang MPCS Holds AGM and Distributes Dividends
Pakyong, February 25 (IPR): The Cooperation Department, Government of Sikkim, marked two events in Pakyong District today. Pakyong Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society inaugurated its unit under the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) at Pakyong Bazaar, while Tareythang Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society conducted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) and distributed dividends to shareholders.
The PMBJP unit will provide generic medicines and healthcare kits to the public under the scheme.
The programme was attended by the OSD to MLA Namcheybong, Mr Hari Rizal, Panchayat representatives, Board of Directors of Pakyong MPCS, and officials from the Cooperation Department.
During the programme, Additional Registrar Ms Kesang Yanki commended the Society for undertaking the important and people-centric initiative, particularly in benefiting economically weaker and underprivileged sections of the community. She appreciated the cooperative’s proactive efforts in overcoming challenges, including limited space constraints, to establish the Jan Aushadhi unit in the interest of public welfare.
On the same day, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Tareythang Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, Pakyong District, was held.
During the meeting, dividends were distributed among shareholders. The Government received ₹31,368 towards its share investment, the Panchayat body received ₹14,012, and ₹64,620 was distributed among individual members. Incentives of ₹1,500 each were awarded to four members in recognition of their continued participation in the activities of the society.
The proceedings of the day recorded the operationalisation of a PMBJP outlet in Pakyong Bazaar and the completion of statutory business by Tareythang MPCS, including approval of accounts and distribution of dividends, in accordance with cooperative norms and shareholding patterns.
