Pakyong MPCS Holds Annual General Meeting for FY 2023-24 and Elects New Board Members
Pakyong, February 15 (IPR): The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Pakyong Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society Ltd. (MPCS) for the financial year 2023-24 was held at the Pakyong Yakten GPU hall today.
The meeting was attended by board members, cooperative members, and officials from the Cooperation Department, Pakyong District.
The AGM focused on the financial audit report, operational review, future planning, and the election of new board members.
Mr Bimal Rai, Deputy Registrar Cooperation Department, outlined the agenda and key points of the meeting. He informed that the UN General Assembly has declared 2025 as the International Year of Cooperatives under the theme "Cooperatives Build a Better World."
In addition, he highlighted various schemes initiated following the establishment of the Ministry of Cooperation, including the computerisation of Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), PM Jan Aushadhi Kendra for access to generic medicines, Common Service Centres (CSCs) for improved e-services, and Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras (PMKSK) for ensuring easy accessibility to fertilisers and related services for farmers.
He further stated that the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendra, Samriddhi Kendras, and CSCs under Pakyong MPCS is in progress, highlighting their benefits. He also urged members to support the cooperative by purchasing goods from the society.
Earlier, Mr Nima Tshering Bhutia, Audit Officer, Cooperation Department, presented the audit report for 2023-24, reviewing financial statements, including income, expenditure, and profit.
Similarly, Mr Nima Ongchuk Bhutia, President Pakyong MPCS, highlighted the initiatives undertaken during his tenure and outlined future plans for the cooperative's growth.
The meeting also included the distribution of membership cards to members. As part of the International Year of Cooperatives celebration, a lucky draw was held, and coupons were awarded to the winners.
Elections for the formation of a new board were conducted in accordance with the norms, with five members elected unopposed.
The newly elected board members are:
Mr Nima Ongchuk Bhutia – President
Mr Hari Rizal – Vice President
Ms Doma Lepcha – Member
Ms Indira Subba – Member
Ms Yankee Lamu Lama – Member
The AGM also included an interactive session for member discussions and feedback.
