Pakyong District: Pre-Subroto Mukherjee Inter School Football Tournament Qualifiers Announced

Pakyong, 2 July (IPR): The finals of the Pre Subroto Mukherjee Inter-School Football Tournament, organized by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, were held at St. Xavier's School ground today.
The Chief Guests of the event were Mr. B P Sharma, Joint Director Education Department, Mr. Sonam Pintso Bhutia, DFO Forest and Environment Department cum President of District Football Association, Pakyong District and Mr. Hemant Jung Gurung, Secretary, of Pickleball Association of Sikkim.
The tournament commenced on June 27, featuring competitive matches with enthusiastic participation from various teams aiming to qualify for the state-level inter-district tournament going to be held at Namchi and Gangtok for girl’s and boy’s teams accordingly.
Furthermore, the winners of the state-level tournament will advance to the Subroto Cup, scheduled to be held in New Delhi and Bengaluru, respectively.
A total of two matches took place today. The first match was played between Tikalaal Niroula Senior Secondary School against St. Xavier's School under-15 Boys category where Tikalaal Niroula SSS won.
The second match kicked off between Tikalaal Niroula Senior Secondary School against Sumin Secondary School where Tikalal Niroula SSS won the Under -17 Boys category.
Similarly, the qualifying teams to be selected for the state-level inter-district tournament from Pakyong District are as follows:
Chujachen Senior Secondary School in the under-17 girls category
Tikalaal Niroula Senior Secondary School, in the under-15 boys category
Tikalaal Niroula Senior Secondary School in the under-17 boys category
The day witnessed a meet and greet ceremony, wherein the guests interacted with the players and encouraged them to participate in such activities for their overall holistic development while fostering a spirit of friendship and sportsmanship.
The event concluded with a ceremony to honor the outstanding players and their teams for their efforts.
Also present at the tournament were officials from the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, teachers, students, and the general public.
