One-Month Disaster and Office Management Training Set to Begin in Pakyong District

The Inauguration ceremony for the Disaster Management and Office Management Training Programme organised by DAC Pakyong in collaboration with George Telegram was held at Dikling Senior Secondary School, Pakyong.
The one-month-long training, commencing from April 16, 2025, is designed for the staff of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) and administrative personnel of Pakyong District. It aims to enhance their skills in disaster preparedness, coordination, and efficient office management.
District Collector Pakyong, Mr Rohan Agawane, attended the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. In his address, he outlined the key components of the training, which will cover both disaster response and office administration. He mentioned that participants will be taught essential skills such as file maintenance, creating PowerPoint presentations, drafting professional emails and notes, and operating the E-Office system.
He further informed that the training will prepare participants to act as first responders during emergencies. Urging all trainees to attend without fail, he announced that there would be an assessment at the end of the programme. The top three performers will receive cash incentives, while penalties will be imposed for non-attendance. Stressing the importance of the training, he encouraged participants to treat it seriously and take it as an opportunity to develop lifelong skills.
Mr Sanjeev Kumar Das, Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of George College of Management and Science, Kolkata, also addressed the gathering. He expressed his gratitude for being entrusted with the responsibility to conduct the training. He spoke about the impact of natural hazards across the state and underlined the need for technical training to reduce disaster-related risks. He added that such capacity-building efforts would go a long way in raising awareness and equipping the workforce with strategies to mitigate disasters effectively.
The programme was attended by ADC (Headquarters) Mr GL Meena; SDM (Headquarters) Mr Thendup Lepcha; SDM Rangpo Ms Sujata Subba; and SDM Rongli Mr NB Biswakarma, along with DPO Pakyong Mr TR Chettri and DDMA officials.
