Oath-Taking Ceremony of Newly Elected Nagar Panchayat Councillors Held at Pakyong

Pakyong, May 2 (IPR): The Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected Councillors of Pakyong and Rangpo Nagar Panchayats under the Sikkim Municipal Election 2026 was held today at the Conference Hall of the District Administrative Centre (DAC), Pakyong.
The ceremony was graced by the Minister for Education, Sports & Youth Affairs, and Law & Parliamentary Affairs Departments-cum-MLA, Namcheybong Constituency, Mr Raju Basnet;  MLA, West Pendam Constituency and Advisor to the Information & Public Relations Department, Land Revenue & Disaster Management and Information Technology Department, Mr LB Das; Zilla Upadhyaksha, Ms Prabha Pradhan and Additional Political Secretary to HCM, Mr Bishal Sharma.
During the ceremony, the Oath of Affirmation was administered by the Municipal Returning Officer-cum-District Collector, Mr Rohan Agawane, to the newly elected members of Pakyong and Rangpo Nagar Panchayats. Under Pakyong Nagar Panchayat, Mr Inchung Bhutia (Kartok Ward) was elected as Municipal President Ms Bhim Maya Chettri (Basnet Gaon Ward) as Municipal Vice President.
The elected members include Ms Rozi Gurung (Dugalakha Ward), Mr Rakesh Basnett (Pakyong Bazar Ward) and Ms Sancha Maya Tamang (Dikling–Chalamthang Ward). Under Rangpo Nagar Panchayat, Mr Sanjeev Kumar Khati (Mandi Bazar Ward) was elected as Municipal President and Ms Sanju Manger (Majhitar Ward) as Municipal Vice President.
The elected members include Ms Radha Pradhan (Mining Ward), Mr Pinku Kumar Prasad (Rangpo Upper Bazar Ward) and Ms Larishna Tamang (Chanatar Ward). Subsequently, the Municipal President and Municipal Vice President also took the Oath of Affirmation as per the provisions of the Sikkim Municipalities Act.
Also, present at the ceremony were Special Secretary, UDD, Mr Hemant Rai; Additional District Collector (HQ), Pakyong, Mr Sabindra Rai; SDM (HQ), Pakyong, Mr Thendup Lepcha; CA to HCM, Mr Urgen Lepcha and MEO, Rangpo Mr Suren Tamang, Rangpo.
