Oath-Taking Ceremony of Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat Councillors Held in Gyalshing District

Gyalshing, May 2 (IPR): The Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly elected members of 06 Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat under the Sikkim Municipal Election 2026 was held today at the Zilla Conference Hall, Gyalshing.
The ceremony was graced by the Area MLA, Gyalshing-Bermiok Constituency, Mr Lok Nath Sharma, in the presence of Zilla Adhakshya, Gyalshing,Mr Ds Limboo; Chairman, RDD, Mr Narayan Khatiwada; Chairman, Sikkim Scheduled Caste Welfare Board, Mr  Shekhar Sewa; Chairman, Sikkim Cooperative Milk Producers' Union Limited, Mr Yam Kumar Mishra;District Collector, Gyalshing, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa; Superintendent of Police, Gyalshing, Mr Tshering Sherpa; ADC (Development), Mr Surat Kumar Gurung; Former Minister Mr RB Subba;Additional Political Secretary to HCM, Mr Madhu Sudhan Sharma; along with Advisors,OSDs, BDO Gyalshing, MEO Gyalshing,Bazar Officer,Gyalshing;officers from line departments, officials and members of the public.
During the ceremony, the Oath of Affirmation was administered by the Municipal Returning Officer-cum-District Collector, Mr Tenzing D Denzongpa, to the newly elected members of the Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat.
Ms Khina Maya Tiwari was elected as the President of Gyalshing Nagar Panchayat and Mr  Rinzing Bhutia as the Vice President. The elected members include-Ms Laki Doma Bhutia, Ms Suman Mittal and Mr Praveen Darjee.
Addressing the gathering, the Area MLA congratulated the newly elected members and highlighted the importance of their roles as public representatives. He emphasised that they must prioritise the welfare of the people, ensure inclusive development, and uphold the trust reposed in them by the public. He further stated that their tenure should be guided by accountability and a strong commitment to development, urging them to work in close coordination with government departments and stakeholders.
In his address, the District Collector stated that the oath is not merely a constitutional formality but a solemn commitment to serve the people with honesty, integrity, and dedication. He urged the elected representatives to focus on inclusive and transparent governance while prioritising public welfare.
He further stressed the importance of accountability, coordination, and responsiveness in addressing local issues and encouraged active participation in developmental activities. He called upon the members to work in close collaboration with government departments and stakeholders for the effective implementation of schemes and programmes.
The District Collector also reminded the representatives to uphold the values of unity, harmony, and public service, while maintaining the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties. He expressed confidence that their collective efforts would contribute significantly to the overall development and progress of the district.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries and participants for their presence and cooperation in making the event a success.
