Date: 20-Apr-2026
Namchi, April 20 (IPR): A review meeting on the progress of the ongoing house listing phase of Census 2027 was held today at the District Administrative Centre (DAC).
The meeting was chaired by DC Ms Anupa Tamling and attended by ADCs, SDMs and BDOs of the district.
In her address, she reviewed the preparations for the ongoing census activities. She clarified that the current phase involves Houselisting and Housing Census.
She emphasised the need for strict monitoring of data collection and directed designated charge officers to conduct weekly reviews. She also instructed that Additional Charge Officers actively assist in the monitoring process.
It may be noted that fieldwork commenced on April 16, 2026, and will continue until May 15, 2026. During this period, enumerators are conducting door-to-door surveys using a mobile application for data collection.
She noted that the collected data is being verified at multiple levels by supervisors and synchronised with mapping systems. Stressing accuracy, the DC directed charge officers and additional charge officers to ensure proper verification. She further instructed that house mapping must be completed and approved by supervisors before proceeding with the housing census.
To be mentioned that out of a total of 447 House Listing Blocks (HLBs), work in 208 HLBs is currently in progress. However, 239 HLBs have not yet been taken up by the enumerators. In this regard, the DC has directed all Charge Officers and Supervisors to initiate the pending work at the earliest and ensure that all House Listing Blocks are completed within the stipulated timeframe.
All concerned officials have been instructed to closely monitor the progress and take necessary measures to avoid any delays in completion.
The meeting included a discussion segment for clarifications and coordination on ongoing census operations.
