Namchi Celebrates Fulpati Shobha Yatra

On the auspicious occasion of Fulpati, the seventh day of Dashain, the Namchi District Sikkim Government Retired Employees Welfare Association (NDSGREWA) organised a vibrant Fulpati Shobha Yatra in Namchi today.
The procession commenced from Car Plaza, proceeding through Bhutia Busty, and culminated at Central Park.
The Chief Guest Ms Anupa Tamling District Collector of Namchi, participated actively in the event. She was joined by Mr Ganesh Rai Chairperson of the Namchi Municipal Council, along with Councillors.
Also present were Ms Anjeeta Rai Zilla Adhakshya, Mr PK Rai President, and Mr Nar Hari Chettri Vice President of the NDSGREWA, alongside members of the association and various members of the community.
At the outset of the procession, a traditional puja was performed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Kalaratri, featuring the offering of fruits as a peaceful alternative to animal sacrifice. The face of Goddess Kalaratri was unveiled, marking the beginning of the Fulpati procession, which was accompanied by the traditional Naumati Baja.
This celebration brought together diverse sections of society, reinforcing community bonds and preserving cherished traditions.
