Ms Srijana Chettri Declared Elected as Councillor for 10-DPH Ward

Gangtok, April 25 (IPR): The counting for the lone contested ward under the Gangtok Municipal Elections was conducted at the District Administrative Centre, Gangtok, and concluded today in the presence of Municipal Returning Officer-cum-District Collector, Mr Tushar Nikhare; Election Observer-cum-Secretary, Culture Department, Mr Basant Kr Lama; Assistant Municipal Returning Officer-cum-ADC (HQ), Mr Tshering Norgyal Theengh; Assistant Municipal Returning Officer-cum-ADM, Gangtok, Mr Sisum Wangchuk Bhutia; SP, Gangtok, Mr Mahendra Subba; ASP, Gangtok, Mr Pravin Lamichaney; Joint Commissioner, GMC, Mr Pema Wangchuk; Deputy Director, DDMA, Ms Bijayata Kharel; Under Secretary, Election Cell, Ms Dhan Maya Rasaily; Assistant Collector, Gangtok, Mr Bhawesh Khyalia; officials from ECIL; representatives of contesting candidates; and officials on election duty.
As per Form 45, the final results of the 10-Diesel Power House (UR) Ward under the Gangtok Municipal Corporation are as follows:
A. Ms Srijana Chettri (BJP)
Polling Station 1 – 277
Polling Station 2 – 172
Polling Station 3 – 445
Postal ballot votes – 5
Total – 899 votes
B. Ms Bindhya Cintury (Independent)
Polling Station 1 – 170
Polling Station 2 – 52
Polling Station 3 – 161
Postal ballot votes – 1
Total – 384 votes
It may be noted that out of a total of 2,862 electors, 1,327 votes were cast, of which 1,283 were valid. A total of 42 votes were recorded for NOTA, while 2 postal ballot votes were rejected.
The EVMs were subsequently sealed and stored in the strong room at 9:25 am in the presence of the officials mentioned above, along with police personnel.
Municipal Returning Officer-cum-District Collector, Gangtok, Mr Tushar Nikhare, declared Ms Srijana Chettri as the elected Councillor of the 10-Diesel Power House Ward under the Gangtok Municipal Corporation and submitted her Form 46.
He further announced that the swearing-in ceremony for the Gangtok Municipal Corporation and Singtam Nagar Panchayat will be held on May 2, 2026.
