Minister Mr. T. T. Bhutia Inspects Landslide-Affected Rimbi/Singlitam
Gyalshing, 15 September (IPR): Minister-cum-Area MLA Mr. Tshering T. Bhutia inspected the tragic landslide site at Rimbi/Singlitam and took stock of extensive damage caused to households, standing properties, and the road connecting Melli–Khechuperi–Yuksom. The landslide has resulted in the complete collapse of the road, severely affecting the lifeline connectivity of the area.
During the inspection, Mr.Bhutia assessed the impact of the landslide on the affected households and discussed immediate temporary measures to restore connectivity. He has been continuously monitoring the grievances arising from the landslide and expressed his deep concern over the difficulties faced by the affected families and the general public.
Minister was accompanied by Panchayat President Mr. Mangal Rai, ward Panchayat members, and members of the public. During the visit, he assured the major affected victims that they would receive necessary government support, including assistance for the construction of new houses on newly purchased land. He further assured that appropriate measures would be taken to address the situation and mitigate the hardships caused by the landslide.
Following the inspection, Minister Chaired a meeting regarding the upcoming Golden Jubilee Celebration of Government Junior High School (JHS), Tathang, held at Tathang.
The meeting commenced with a welcome address by Zilla Panchayat Member Miss Sabitri Rai. Thereafter, Mr. Prem Kumar Limboo, Headmaster of Tathang JHS, presented the agenda, aims and objectives of the proposed Golden Jubilee Celebration.
Panchayat President Mr. Deepak Rai placed before the gathering the details regarding the availability of initial funds collected during the previous meeting, the proposed fundraising procedures and the estimated total budget and financial requirements for the celebration.
The meeting then proceeded to an open discussion, during which the respective committees presented their ideas, procedures, and requirements. Detailed discussions were held particularly on the sports events, cultural programmes, ground maintenance, and stage arrangements. Minister also visited the celebration site and inspected the ground maintenance, overall quality of the site, and stage arrangements.
The meeting was also attended by Mr. Mon Rai, State-Level Joint Secretary Youth Wing, Mr. Gyalpo Lepcha, CLC Organisation Secretary, Panchayat President Mr. Deepak Rai, Panchayat President Mr. Mangal Rai of 11-Rimbi Timbrong GPU, Panchayat Members, Mr. Amal Singh Limboo, Sub-Inspector; and alumni of Tathang JHS.
