Minister Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, inaugurates the VAC of Lingdong Barfok GPU
Mangan, December 17 (IPR): Minister for Forest & Environment, Mines & Geology, and Science & Technology, cum MLA, Dzongu, Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, inaugurated the Village Administrative Centre (VAC) of Lingdong Barfok GPU at Lingdong today.
The Minister was accompanied by Chairperson, Horticulture Department, Ms Ongkit Lepcha; Up-Adhakshya, Ms Sonam Kipa Bhutia; SDM Dzongu, Mr Gideon Lepcha; BDO Dzongu, Dr. Mahindra Tamang; Deputy Director, Women, Child, Senior Citizen & Welfare Department, Mr Netuk Lepcha, RO Forest, Mr Ongay Lepcha, AE BAC Passingdang Mr Netuk Lepcha, OSDs, Zilla and Gram Panchayat Members of Lingdong Barfok GPU, along with officials from various line departments.
Following the inauguration, the Minister toured and inspected the newly established VAC. Congratulating the district administration, he expressed confidence that the centre would strengthen grassroots governance and contribute to the overall development of the GPU and the district. He thanked all stakeholders for their collective efforts in establishing the infrastructure and suggested the construction of a hall within the VAC to better facilitate administrative meetings.
The Minister also appreciated the administration’s initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery, including the door-to-door administration programme. He emphasised that sustained development of the constituency requires close cooperation between the administration and the public.
During the programme, Certificates of Appreciation were presented to Padma Shri Awardee Mr Jodan Lepcha for safeguarding the culture through the craft of Lepcha Hat Sumok Thyaktuk, and former Panchayat President Mr Norgay Lepcha for contributing the land for the infrastructure.
