Members of Pakshep, Singhik, Manul Taxi Drivers’ Association introduce traditional attire day

Mangan, June 18: Aligning with the vision and direction of the State Government under the steadfast leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Prem Singh Tamang, the members of the Local Taxi Drivers’ Association of Pakshep, Singhik and Manul have introduced a noble initiative of wearing traditional costumes every Thursday to preserve the rich culture, traditions, and unity of Sikkim. This step reflects their commitment to protecting and promoting the cultural identity and values of Sikkim for future generations.
An event was organised today at Mangan to formally announce the initiative. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare Department and Area MLA of 31-Lachen Mangan Constituency, Shri Samdup Lepcha. He was joined by Chairman of the Chalak Welfare Board, Shri Sonam Ongdup Bhutia, RTO Mangan Shri Tempa Rinzing Bhutia, MEO MNP Shri Karzong Bhutia, State Level Chalak Convenor Shri Sonam Tamang, OSD Lachen Mangan, Shri Tshering Wangyal Bhutia, District General Secretary, Shri Lakching Lepcha, DLC Youth Convenor Shri Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia, and other dignitaries.
Also present were SHO Mangan, Shri Prashant Rai, MNP President, Ms Tshering Doma Bhutia, Councillor, Shri Hangu Lachenpa, and Social Worker, Shri Tashi Pintso Kazi. Their presence added value and encouragement to the important cultural initiative.
Hon’ble Minister Shri Samdup Lepcha appreciated the efforts of the association in preserving and promoting Sikkim’s rich cultural heritage. He encouraged everyone to take pride in their traditions, maintain unity, and pass on their cultural values to future generations. He also highlighted that culture, identity, and unity are important for building a stronger and better society.
