Meeting on vote counting procedures held at SCERT Burtuk

Gangtok, May 21 (IPR): A meeting regarding the vote counting procedures for the assembly constituencies under Gangtok district was held today at the SCERT conference hall in Burtuk.
The meeting was chaired by Mr Tushar G Nikhare, DEO cum DC Gangtok, and attended by Mr Milan Rai, ADC Headquarter Gangtok, ASP Gangtok, SDMs, Officials from the District Administrative Centre, contesting candidates, and election agents.
The purpose of the meeting was to brief the candidates and election agents on the comprehensive procedures and protocols to be followed on the counting day.
Mr Tushar Nikhare, DEO cum DC Gangtok, extended his gratitude to all the political parties for the cooperation and support provided by them.
He stated that ensuring a transparent and smooth counting process is a top priority, and these arrangements are crucial to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.
Additionally, Mr Nikhare stated that the ETPBS room at DAC will be open at 4:30 a.m. on June 2. Similarly, the strong room for the Postal Ballot and EVM setup at DIET College, Burtuk, will be opened at 5:00 a.m. on the counting day.
DEO mentioned the Encore app, developed by the Election Commission of India (ECI), provides real-time updates and detailed election results on counting day.
He said that the app offers a user-friendly interface where users can view live counting results, track constituency-wise updates, and access comprehensive data on party-wise and candidate-wise performance.
This app ensures transparency and easy access to election information, making it an essential tool for citizens and media on election day, he concluded.
Furthermore, Mr G.L Meena, SDM Headquarter, provided detailed insights into the security measures that will be in place, as well as the movement of counting agents within the premises on the counting day.
He emphasized that the initiatives underscore the commitment of the electoral authorities to uphold a fair and orderly vote counting process, thereby reinforcing confidence in the electoral system.
Earlier, it was mentioned that three-tier security checkpoints will be installed at different locations on the counting day. Additionally, supporters of the political parties will be stationed at the following venues:
Paljor Stadium: SKM
Resithang Ground: SDF
Guards Ground: BJP, CAP and independent candidates' supporters.
In addition to the meeting, a visit to the Counting Centre and Counting Halls was organized. This visit aimed to familiarise all candidates with the security arrangements.
