Medhavi Skills University Holds Orientation Programme Prarambh 2025
Gangtok, August 28 (IPR):
Medhavi Skills University (MSU) organised Prarambh 2025, the Orientation Programme for its new batch, to mark the beginning of the academic year at Manan Kendra, today.
Chief Justice High Court of Sikkim, Mr Justice Biswanath Somadder, attended the programme as the Chief Guest.
In his address, Mr Justice Biswanath Somadder welcomed the new batch and urged the students to prepare themselves with skills for professional success and responsible citizenship. He said that although the internet and social media occupy a significant part of young people’s lives, the challenge is to develop the ability to think independently.
He cautioned that if every question is answered by a device and accepted without reflection, originality suffers. He added that skills taught in classrooms would be of limited use if the mind remained dependent on a device.
He further stated that students must learn to separate useful information from misleading content in the digital age. He underlined that universities must encourage reading, cultural activities, sports, excursions, and real-world engagement to nurture independent minds. He said judgment must be developed through reading, music, films, nature, and meaningful discussions, since no skill programme teaches this ability.
He suggested that students should form small discussion groups, spend more time outdoors, and take part in debates. Concluding his address, he said that to sustain themselves, grow as citizens, and lead with dignity in a fast-changing world, students must think differently, think originally, and stay connected to reality.
Pro-Chancellor and Co-founder of MSU, Mr Kuldip Sharma, in his address, recalled the journey of the University which he described as a thought movement to make India’s youth employable through industry-integrated education. He said the University has received recognition, affiliations, and partnerships with national and international institutions, industry, state and central governments, and global bodies.
He added that MSU students have opportunities both in India and abroad. He informed that the University has launched a Foreign Language Cell offering German and Japanese, enabling international placements. He expressed gratitude to industry leaders, government authorities, and other partners for their support in strengthening MSU’s mission.
Founder and Chancellor of MSU, Mr Pravesh Dudani, welcomed the 2025 batch across 15 programmes, reflecting the University’s vision of inclusivity. He highlighted that MSU combines an industry-driven curriculum, mandatory on-the-job training, stackable credentials, flexible learning under the National Education Policy (NEP), skill certifications, experienced faculty, and a focus on leadership development. He said MSU prepares students as “E-shaped professionals” with both deep expertise and cross-disciplinary skills to meet the challenges of artificial intelligence and automation.
The event featured cultural performances by students, including traditional dances and musical presentations.
The programme was addressed by Vice Chairman of SETU Ayog Mr Raj Shekhar Joshi, Senior Manager of Felix Foundation and Felix Hospital Mr Pankaj Mathur, and CHRO of Chai Point Mr JB Kallapa.
MSU student Ms Radhika Chettri was felicitated for her selection to represent India at the WorldSkills Asia 2025 scheduled in Chinese Taipei in November.
The programme was attended by MSU faculties, officers, dignitaries, students, and parents.
The programme concluded with addresses from the School Heads and the Office of Student Affairs, followed by a Vote of Thanks proposed by Deputy Registrar MSU.
