Mangan works towards a drug-free society
Mangan, August 22(IPR): A short awareness programme on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan was conducted in the premises of Mangan Nagar Panchayat, under the direction of DC Mangan Mr Anant Jain (IAS), today.
The programme was attended by Mrs Norkit Lepcha Municipal President, Mrs Premkit Lepcha Councillor, staff from Mangan Nagar Panchayat and the public.
Resource person Mr Nursasus Lepcha from Rehabilitation Centre Mangan provided a brief note on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan (a flagship campaign of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment Government of India to fight against drug use).
His address was aimed to educate and sensitise about the dangers of drug abuse, its impact on individuals, families and society and the importance and benefits of leading a healthy life.
He also discussed various reasons as to why drug abuse is on the rise and how we, as a society can address the issue.
He encouraged the gathering to keep themselves busy with exercises and activities, which will keep them healthy mentally and physically. He also suggested that healthy diet and talking to a therapist or counsellor would help those struggling with substance abuse in a positive manner.
It is to be mentioned that DAC Mangan in collaboration with various departments and institutions has been actively working against drug and substance abuse through awareness programmes and other activities such as marathon etc.
