Mangan district marks the closing ceremony of Poshan Pakhwada 2025 with enthusiastic participation
Mangan, April 22 (IPR):
The 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada observed from April 8 to April 22 concluded today with vibrant celebrations at all the ICDS centres and other venues throughout Mangan district.
The fortnight-long campaign aimed at promoting essential nutrition practices through various impactful activities conducted across state and district levels, emphasising community involvement, capacity building, and awareness generation. This year the campaign had four broad themes - Focus on first 1000 days of life, popularisation of beneficiary module in the Poshan Tracker, healthy lifestyle to address obesity in children and management of malnutrition through CMAM module.
At Singhik ICDS, Deputy Director-cum-CDPO Chungthang Ms Sonam Lhaden Lachungpa participated in the closing ceremony attended by enthusiastic mothers and ICDS staff to bring to a close a fortnight of meaningful campaign. The CDPO presented a comprehensive overview of the initiatives undertaken during the campaign, showcasing the reach, impact, and key highlights of each thematic activity.
She reiterated the importance of sustained efforts in combating malnutrition, particularly during the critical first 1000 days of a child’s life. She applauded the dedication of frontline workers and community volunteers who played a pivotal role throughout the campaign.
Outstanding Anganwadi workers and community health workers were felicitated for their commitment and impactful contributions during the Pakhwada.
Ms Lachungpa also stressed the importance of involving men in nutrition awareness, emphasising that nutrition is a collective responsibility. She recommended incorporating millet-based meals at ICDS centers at least once a week to familiarise children with nutritious food options and encouraged families to continue such practices at home. She further encouraged the development of “beauty gardens” at home to support holistic child development.
All participants took a collective pledge to uphold the objectives of the Poshan Abhiyaan throughout the year, extending efforts beyond the fortnight-long observance.
The event concluded with vote of thanks from Nutrition Inspector Mr Pem Tshering Tamang, who expressed gratitude to health workers, Anganwadi staff and community participants for their united efforts in making the 7th edition of Poshan Pakhwada a success.
It is noteworthy that the closing ceremony of Poshan Pakhwada was simultaneously organised across Mangan district.
