Mangan, November 17th (IPR): As part of the ongoing State Level Disaster Mock Drill, multiple GLOF-induced landslide response exercises were conducted across key locations in Mangan District this evening.
At Sankalang (Mangan side), excavators and rescue personnel cleared simulated debris and provided aid to mock injured individuals trapped by the landslide. On the Dzongu side of Sankalang, machinery and response teams worked to clear blockages and assess road connectivity.
A separate scenario at the Chungthang Dam site tested coordination among dam authorities, disaster management teams and engineers following a simulated landslide triggered by a GLOF event.
The drills aimed at strengthening inter-agency preparedness and enhancing rapid response capabilities during disaster situations.
The night time disaster mock drill was conducted under the supervision and guidance of District Magistrate Mangan, Mr Anant Jain, along with SP Mangan, ADM Mangan, SDM Mangan, SDPO Mangan, DPO Mangan, and other officers.
The mock drill at Dzongu and Chungthang was conducted under the guidance and supervision of the respective SDMs in coordination with officers and concerned agencies namely NDRF, ITBP, GREF, Forest and Environment Department and local volunteers.
