MLA LB Das Inspects Jal Jeevan Mission Water Supply Infrastructure in West Pendam

MLA cum Advisor, Land Revenue & Disaster Management, IT & IPR Department, Government of Sikkim, Mr LB Das conducted a comprehensive inspection of the ongoing works under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in West Pendam today, as part of the state’s continued efforts to ensure safe and adequate drinking water for every rural household.
During the inspection, Mr Das visited key water supply infrastructure sites, which included:
• 7.5 lakh litre capacity reservoir tank at Central Pendam,
• 2.5 lakh litre distribution tank at Ralung for West Pendam GPU,
• 30,000 litre distribution tank at Sakhu Ward, West Pendam GPU.
He closely reviewed the construction progress, structural integrity, and future functionality of these crucial components, while engaging with on-site engineers and officials to discuss timelines, quality standards, water storage capacity, and long-term sustainability of the project.
Emphasising the significance of the Jal Jeevan Mission, Mr Das reaffirmed his commitment to providing uninterrupted access to clean and safe drinking water for the people of West Pendam, particularly in rural and semi-urban pockets, underscoring its importance for public health and overall quality of life.
The inspection also had the presence of Zilla Panchayat Member, Central Pendam, Bhurung Ward Panchayat, Sakhu Ward Panchayat, Assistant Engineer and Junior Engineer from the RDD Department, senior officials, field staff, and other concerned stakeholders.
