MICT Cum Integrated Health Camp at Kabi BAC Focuses on HIV Prevention and Awareness

Kabi, June 23: A Mobile Integrated Counselling and Testing (MICT) cum Integrated Health Camp was successfully organised today at the Block Administrative Centre (BAC), Kabi. Conducted by the Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SSACS), the camp placed a special focus on HIV transmission, prevention, and awareness.

The programme was graced by Shri Pema Wangyal Bhutia (Hon’ble Zilla Panchayat Member, 01-Kabi Rongpa TC) as the Chief Guest.
The event also saw the esteemed presence and active participation of Mrs. Dowden Bhutia (Hon’ble Panchayat Member), Shri Sonam Tshering Bhutia (Hon’ble Vice President, 01-Kabi Rongpa GPU), Shri Tashi Wangyal Bhutia (BDO, Kabi Tingda BAC), Shri Rinzing Namgyal Bhutia (Assistant Director, PRI), Staff members from the Kabi Rongpa GPU and Kabi Tingda BAC, alongside enthusiastic students from the Kalzang Gyatso Senior Secondary School.
The core focus of the awareness programme was educating the public on the various modes of HIV transmission and critical preventive measures. The resource persons emphasised the adoption of safe practices, the vital importance of regular testing, and the collective need to eliminate stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV. The session also extended crucial health information regarding Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
A major highlight of the day was an engaging skit performance designed to raise awareness about HIV. The creative presentation effectively conveyed important messages on responsible behavior, the benefits of early testing, and the power of community support, earning widespread appreciation from the gathering.
Alongside the educational sessions, the integrated health camp provided essential, free on-site screening services for all attendees. These healthcare services included:
