Ltd., concluded successfully at Lingdong, Dzongu on 11th December, 2025.
The programme was held in the presence of OSD, Land Revenue & Disaster Management, Mr Ugen Lepcha, and Panchayat Mr Laydong Lepcha.
The 60-day Advanced Lepcha Hat-Making Training, conducted under the guidance of master trainer Padma Shree awardee Mr Jordan Lepcha, trained 20 participants, most of them women and unemployed youth. Certificates and incentives were distributed to the trainees upon completion.
Addressing the gathering as Chief Guest, Mr Ugen Lepcha thanked the department for organising enterprise-oriented training in rural areas and expressed appreciation to Leezong Pundi Pvt. Ltd. for its partnership. He encouraged participants to pursue entrepreneurship and ensure the continuity of traditional Lepcha hat-making, an important symbol of the community’s cultural identity.
Mr Mayal Dok Lepcha, Training Facilitator and Director of Leezong Pundi Pvt. Ltd., conveyed heartfelt gratitude to the organisers and the Area MLA Dzongu, Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, for supporting youth entrepreneurship. He noted that such initiatives enable training partners to bring opportunities to the village level, helping unemployed youth and women harness skills and move towards self-employment. He added that while the traditional Lepcha Sumok Thyaktuk hat was once practised by only a few artisans, the training has now enabled at least 20 participants to acquire the specialised skill.
