Lachung Dzomsa Celebrates Losar with Grand Three-Day Cultural Programme

Mangan, February 20 (IPR): A grand three-day cultural programme to commemorate Losar, also known as Gyalpo Losar, the Tibetan New Year, commenced today at Lachung Thomchi Ground. The three-day festival is organised by Lachung Dzomsa.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Minister for Forest and Environment, Mines and Geology, and Science and Technology Departments, Mr Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, who attended as the Chief Guest.
The programme commenced with the formal reception of the Chief Guest, followed by a welcome address and a welcome song presented by the Lachung Young Cultural Group. The cultural segment featured performances by Dream Dance Studio, Mangan, Tumlong Ongditse Welfare Association, and the Lachung Young Cultural Group.
The audience witnessed a vibrant display of traditional Lepcha, Tamang, Nepali, Bhutia, Tibetan and Bhutanese dances. The performances also included Gorshay dances, contemporary cultural presentations, and solo songs, reflecting the diverse cultural identity of the region. The celebrations showcased communal harmony and strengthened the spirit of togetherness among the people.
A significant highlight of the event was the release of a Lachungpa song album by the Pipons in the gracious presence of the Chief Guest. The release was received with appreciation and added a special dimension to the celebrations.
The programme was also attended by former Minister and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Mr Hissey Lachungpa, Chairman of Tourism, Mr Sonam Norgay Lachungpa, Chairman of SIMFED, Mr Tenzing Dorjee Bhutia, Chairman of Forest and Environment Department, Mr Pema Wongay Lachungpa, SDM Chungthang Mr Arun Chettri, SDPO Chungthang Mr Chandan Chhetri, and officials from various line departments.
The successful celebration of Losar reaffirmed the enduring cultural pride, unity, and social harmony of the people of Lachung.
