Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival 2024 commences at Pelling Gyalshing District
Gyashing, December 25(IPR ): Minister Buildings and Housing, Labour Departments Govt of Sikkim Mr Bhim Hang Limboo graced the commencing day of the Khangchendzonga Winter Tourism Festival 2024 at Pelling ground organised by the Pelling Tourism Development Association(PTDA) in collaboration with district administration.
The dignitaries present at the festival were Ms Sabitri Sanyasi Zilla Member (Singyang-Chumbung Terrirorial Constituency), Mr Sonam Wangdi Bhutia ASP Gyalshing, Panchayat presidents, panchayats, Mr Sonam Wongyal Bhutia CLC President(Gyalshing district), Members of PTDA, general public of the periphery and plying tourists.
Upon arrival the Minister was accorded a warm welcome by the organising committee and visited various installed stalls at the festival.
Chief Patron-cum -Minister Mr Limboo in his address, extended his heartiest wishes for the festival to the organising committee and the people of Pelling.
Minister further informed on the multidimensional approach of the state government in the tourism sector under the direction of the Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang. He underscored various initiatives rendered by the state govt in upliftment of the tourism sector that amicably facilitate plying tourists in the state.
The first day Kanchedzonga Winter Tourism Festival also witnessed Futsal tournament and a total of 4 matches were fixtured for the day. The first match was played between DFA Darap FC Vs Lamthang Brothers. The former team won the match by a scoreline of 7:6.
The second match was played between RFC Namchi Vs friend circle B. The latter won the match by a scoreline of 6:1.
The third match was played between Rongkup Boys Vs Sindrabung FC. The latter won the match by a scoreline of 7:2 and the
fourth match was played between Sachin FC Vs Pelling FC. The latter won the match by 4:2 goals.
The day even encapsulated Nepali dance performances by Himalayan Dance Academy Pelling, Bhutia dance by Nambu, Lepcha dance by Sindrong and Limboo dance by Chumbung that added colour in the festival.
Earlier,Mr Keshav Pradhan President PTDA floored the welcome address and gave an insight of the festival.
