Key Achievements of the Skill Development Department
1. Trained over 13,000 youth across flagship skilling programmes.
2. Enabled more than 9,400 to become self-employed and 3,700 to secure formal jobs.
3. Established Niyukti Kendra (2022) as a one-stop centre for job placement, counselling, and apprenticeship facilitation.
4. 2,983 candidates registered and 1,134 placed through Niyukti Kendra; partnered with 138 establishments.
5. Niyukti Kendra was honoured with the Silver Award for National SKOCH Good Governance and the SKOCH Order of Merit Award for the year 2022
6. Organised 14 job fairs and 12 major career counselling events across the state.
7. Launched Government ITI, Kewzing with 6 trades (3 engineering, 3 non-engineering); operational since August 2022.
8. Under DDU-GKY, benefitted 3,842 candidates with 60%+ placement rate.
9. Achieved international placement of 13 women nurses to Germany under the Sikkim INSPIRES Program.
10. Facilitated 800+ apprenticeships under NAPS and NATS.
11. Delivered training under national schemes like PMKVY, PM Vishwakarma Yojana, and Jal Jeevan Mission.
12. Upcoming launch of a digital employment portal for real-time tracking and enhanced job access.
