Joint Inspection held for Operationalisation of Dodak Helipad, Soreng District

Soreng, July 16 (IPR):
A joint inspection was conducted today at the Dodak Helipad to assess its readiness for operationalisation. The inspection was led by ADC (I) Mr DR Bista, along with the Helipad Committee members as notified by the Home Department, Government of Sikkim.
The inspection focused on addressing key requirements in line with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) guidelines. Discussions were held regarding the removal of identified obstructions such as trees, buildings and temporary structures in the vicinity of helipad. The condition of the tarmac was also reviewed, and it was recommended that necessary repairs and conditioning be undertaken at the earliest for making the helipad operational.
During the inspection it was highlighted that a trial landing is tentatively scheduled for the first week of September 2025, subject to the completion of all preparatory works and compliance with aviation safety norms.
The inspection also had the participation of Zilla Panchayat Members, Panchayat members, ASP Mr Parshu Ram Sharma, Principal Director (Animal Husbandry) Dr SD Bhutia, Additional Director (Animal Husbandry) Dr Kishore Thapa, Additional Director (Animal Husbandry) Dr PT Bhutia, Joint Director (Tourism) Ms Anita Rai, DE (Animal Husbandry) Mr Sunil Bagdas, Assistant Director (Tourism and Civil Aviation Department) Mr Subash Rai, Assistant Director (Tourism) Ms Shandhya Sharma, AGM (OPS) Sikkim Tourism Development Cooperation Mr Tejal Pradhan, representatives from the Helipad Committee, Heads Of Departments, Officers and Officials from various line departments.
