Joint Inspection Team Identifies Crucial Areas for Maintenance on Samsung PMGSY Road
Pakyong, 1 July (IPR): Mrs. Pamin Lepcha, MLA Gnathang Machong and Mr. Agawane Rohan Ramesh, DC Pakyong led a joint inspection to oversee the progress of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road and evaluate the damages to houses caused by the ongoing works of the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) today at Pachey - Tokchi PMGSY Road.
The inspection team included Mr. Naween Gurung, SE Roads and Bridges Department, Mr. Dakman Subba, SDM Pakyong, Mr. Sonam Pintso Butia, DFO Forest and Environment Department, Mr. Apan Bhoumik, General Manager, NHIDCL and officials from various line departments.
The team assessed the condition of the Samsing PMGSY road and identified several crucial areas in need of immediate maintenance. Furthermore, the team observed that the extensive hill cutting for road widening by NHIDCL had resulted in the accumulation of loose soil over protection walls, causing structural damage to properties owned by residents.
During the inspection, MLA Gnathang engaged in conversation with the officials of NHIDCL and emphasized the need to establish safety measures for the general public and prevent any potential risks. She further interacted with the public and addressed their grievances and assured to provide support in resolving their issue.
Likewise, DC Pakyong stressed the importance of quick action to minimize the impact on both the affected households and the road infrastructure.
The NHIDCL officials, understanding the gravity of the situation, assured that an additional protective wall would be erected after the monsoon season to shield the area from further damage.
Additionally, the forest department is removing trees that pose threats.
It should be noted that the next inspection is scheduled for July 4, 2024.
