Joint Inspection Conducted at Under-Construction Resource Recycling Centre in Namchi
Namchi, May 28 (IPR): As directed by the District Collector (DC), Namchi, a joint inspection of the Resource Recycling Centre (RRC) currently under construction at 12th Mile, Jorethang Road, under Dong-Denchung GPU of Poklok Kamrang Constituency, was conducted today.
The inspection team comprised Additional District Collector (HQ) Mr Subash Ghimirey, SDM (HQ) Mr Nim Pintsho Bhutia, Denchung Sillichung Panchayat Member Ms Chandra Maya Rai, OSD to Poklok Kamrang Constituency Mr Phurden Lepcha, DFO Namchi (Territorial) Mr Tseten Tashi Lepcha, MEO Namchi Mr Yogen Syangden,PHED DE Mr Sonam Karthak, JE Roads and Bridges Department Mr Dinesh Gurung, along with members of the public.
The inspection was carried out following grievances submitted by the residents of Denchung to the DC Namchi on 9 April 2026, expressing concerns regarding certain aspects of the ongoing RRC project.
During the inspection, the ADC Namchi interacted directly with the local residents to hear their concerns and observations. He highlighted the standard operational procedures of the proposed RRC, emphasising safe waste recovery, scientific processing methods, and sustainable waste management practices.
Furthermore, the inspection team visited various water sources and venerated sites located within a three-kilometre radius of the project site.
The team also examined issues relating to long-term environmental sustainability and operational viability, with particular emphasis on safeguarding local ecosystems and water resources.
