Inter Sikkim Diwali Football Tournament 2025 Concludes Successfully at Pakyong
Pakyong, November 04 (IPR): The finals of the Inter Sikkim Diwali Football Tournament 2025, organised by GAMBOS Pakyong, was held between Thirsty Boys Club and Tribal Sporting Club at Bojeytar Ground, Kartok, Pakyong, today.
The event commemorated 50 years of Sikkim’s statehood and aimed to spread the message of a ‘Nasha Mukt Sikkim’.
The tournament was graced by MLA cum Advisor for Social Welfare Department and Women, Child, Senior Citizen and Divyangjan Welfare Department and chief patron of the tournament, Mrs Pamin Lepcha, alongside MLA cum Advisor Roads & Bridges Department, Mr Erung Tenzing Lepcha, as Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, respectively.
Chairman, Commerce and Industries Department, Ms Nim Chiki Sherpa; Advisor Sangha, Pakyong and Gangtok Districts, Mr Palden Gyatso Bhutia; OSD to MLA, Gnathang-Machong, Mr MB Gurung; District Information Officer, IPRD, Mrs Deeki D Bhutia and Former Advisor, Mr Inchung Bhutia attended the event as special guests.
Held from 12 October, the tournament witnessed the participation of 39 teams from various regions across the state. The final match concluded with Tribal Sporting Club emerging victorious with a score of 4-0.
Mr Anurag Chettri from Tribal Sporting Club was named Man of the Match for his remarkable contribution, Mr Bimon Bhujel from Tribal Sporting Club was named Man of the Tournament and Mr Kushal Gurung from Tribal Sporting Club was recognised as Best Goalkeeper.
A series of engaging games and activities, including Tug of War, Musical Chairs, Balloon Games, and Shot Put were organised for attendees.
Adding to the festive spirit, various cultural presentations showcasing the traditions of different communities were performed during the event.
The event concluded with a token of appreciation presented in acknowledgment of efforts extended towards the tournament, followed by a prize distribution ceremony, honouring both the participants and the winning team.
The winning team received a cash prize of Rs 1,50,000, while the runners-up were awarded Rs 1,00,000.
Also present at the programme were panchayat members, officials from various line departments, committee members and members of the public.
