Inspection under Sarkari Sampati Sangrakshan Abhiyan Conducted at Chungthang

Chungthang, January 30: In continuation of the district-wide enforcement drive under the Sarkari Sampati Sangrakshan Abhiyan, an inspection was conducted today at Chungthang, covering land under the Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
The inspection was led by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Chungthang, Mr. Arun Chettri, along with the Revenue staff.
During the inspection, based on official records and land maps, one temporary structure was found to have been constructed on land belonging to the Land Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
The occupant was briefed about the objective of the Sarkari Sampati Sangrakshan Abhiyan and informed that the drive is backed by the provisions of the Sikkim Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants and Rent Recovery) Act, 1980, which provides concerned individuals an opportunity to present their case before further legal action is initiated.
It was reiterated during the drive that Government land and public properties are valuable public assets meant for the welfare of the people, and any form of encroachment or unauthorised occupation will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
Prior to this drive, the office of the SDM, Chungthang, had amicably resolved matters related to encroachment and boundary disputes involving the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services and a few private landowners.
The public was further informed that the enforcement drive will continue on a weekly basis to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective protection of Government properties.
