Inauguration of Gram Prashasan Kendra at Tinkitam Rayong Gram Panchayat

The Rural Development Department under the Office of the Additional District Collector (Development) Ravangla, held the inauguration ceremony for the newly constructed Gram Prashasan Kendra (GPK) of the 47-Tinkitam Rayong Gram Panchayat today.
The facility was formally inaugurated by MLA 09-Barfung Constituency Mr Rikshal Dorjee Bhutia at Tinkitam.
The MLA in his address proposed the addition of a roof truss to the building to allow for greater staff accommodation and the establishment of a dedicated meeting space on the upper level.
He also drew attention to the Sikkim Garib Awas Yojana (SGAY), a government initiative to provide housing to those most in need.
Furthermore, he urged Panchayat members to actively support and promote welfare schemes such as the Old Age Pension Scheme, Aama Yojana, and Educational Scholarships.
Emphasising public awareness and participation, he noted that such involvement is vital to ensuring these benefits reach their intended recipients.
Encouraging self-reliance among local residents, he advised the community to take advantage of entrepreneurial schemes supported by the government.
He concluded his speech by extending blessings and best wishes to the staff of the newly inaugurated GPK.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Dushyant Priyar Secretary Panchayati Raj informed that the GPK was constructed with funding under the Rashtriya Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (RGSA). While acknowledging some space constraints for accommodating the full staff, he assured attendees that the office would function effectively within the horticulture department premises for the time being.
He committed to extending all necessary support to ensure the smooth running of the facility and urged officials to make full use of the newly appointed staff.
The importance of training and capacity building was also emphasised to enhance staff performance and service delivery.
The newly inaugurated Gram Prashasan Kendra is expected to significantly enhance administrative infrastructure in the area and facilitate easier access to government services for residents.
This initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen local governance and improve public service delivery in rural Sikkim.
