IPR Staff Take National Voters’ Day Pledge at Soochna Bhawan
Gangtok, January 27 (IPR): In observance of National Voters’ Day, officers and staff of the Information & Public Relations Department, Government of Sikkim, stationed at the Headquarters today, took the National Voters’ Day pledge at Soochna Bhawan, Gangtok.
The pledge was administered by Secretary, IPR Department, Ms Annapurna Alley, in accordance with directions issued by the Home Department, Government of Sikkim, as part of the statewide observance of National Voters’ Day, which is celebrated annually on January 25.
Addressing the gathering, Director, IPR Department, Mr Sunil Kr Mothey, emphasised that National Voters’ Day is primarily an awareness initiative aimed at encouraging greater participation in the voting process. He highlighted the importance of informed and responsible voting in strengthening democratic institutions and urged officials to actively promote voter awareness through their professional responsibilities.
The pledge-taking ceremony reaffirmed the commitment of government officials to uphold democratic values, strengthen electoral participation and encourage responsible citizenship. The observance was aligned with this year’s National Voters’ Day theme, “My India, My Vote,” which emphasises the central role of citizens in the democratic process.
All officers and staff of the IPR Headquarters were present during the programme, reiterating their dedication to promoting voter awareness, ethical participation in elections, and the spirit of Indian democracy.
