Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare Department distributes cheques under various welfare schemes
Gangtok, May 20: Hon’ble Minister for Social Welfare Department, Mr Samdup Lepcha, distributed welfare cheques to various organisations at Samaj Kalyan Bhawan today.
The Hon’ble Minister was joined by Principal Director cum Secretary of the Social Welfare Department, Ms Normit Lepcha, and Special Secretary, Ms Bandana Rai.
During the programme, cheques were distributed under the National Family Benefit Scheme to eligible beneficiaries. Financial assistance was also provided to NGOs and Old Age Homes to support their welfare activities and services for the needy and elderly people.
Hon’ble Minister Mr Samdup Lepcha lauded the efforts of the organisations working for the welfare of the people, and urged them to continue with the same zeal. He maintained that the State Government will lend all possible support in their endeavours.
