Gyalshing,September 17(IPR):The 4th Hill Open Badminton Tournament 2024 concluded successfully today at the Community Hall in
13 Mile Bermiok, under Gayzing-Bermiok Constituency. The tournament, which was open to men, women, and veterans, was based on the motto "Say yes to badminton and not to drugs."
Mr LN Sharma Area MLA graced the closing ceremony as the Chief guest.
In his address, Sharma commended the participants for their exceptional skills and sportsmanship, emphasizing the importance of sports in promoting health and well-being.
The winners of the tournament were:
* Men's Singles: Mr Sidhant Gurung
* Men's Doubles 35+: Mr Hemant and Mr Arjun
* Men's Doubles 50+: Mr Sajan and Mr Ganesh
* Mixed Doubles: Mr Kushal Lama and
Mr Sharika
* Men's Singles 40+: Mr Allen Lepcha
* Men's Singles 45+: Mr Sajan Subba and
Mr Ganesh Thapa
* Women's Doubles: Mr Sharika Rai and
Mr Anisha Rai
* Men's Doubles: Mr Avinash Subba and
Mr Kushal Lama
* Men's Doubles 40+: Mr Allen and Mr Anil.
It is to mention here that the tournament was
organized by the Bermiok Martam Shuttlers and saw participation from a total of 153 players, held from 14th to 17th September, 2024.
During the event,young karate champions, Mr Pratik Bista (Bronze Medalist) and Mr Bishal Bista (Silver Medalist), were felicitated for their recent achievements at the Northeast Karate Competition.
Further,renowned coaches Mr. Bishnu Kumar Limboo and Mr. Gopal Singh Limboo were also honored for their contributions to the sports community.
Aditionally,all winners and runners-up were awarded prizes.
