Gyalshing district celebrates District Level World Toilet Day
Gyalshing, December 10 (IPR):
District Level celebration of Human Rights day and the culmination of World Toilet Day under the aegis of the Rural Development Department in collaboration with Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin), organised by the office of Additional District Collector (Development) Gyalshing was collectively observed at the premisis of Guest House situated at Gyalshing District Zilla Panchayat Bhawan, Kyongsa.
The celebration was graced by Ms Yishey D Yongda District Collector Gyalshing-cum- Chairperson District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM) Gyalshing as the Chief guest and had the participation of Mr Dhan Singh Limboo Zilla Adhakshya Gyalshing, Ms Anita Rai Zilla Upa-Adhayksha Gyalshing, Mr Sandesh Subba SDM Gyalshing, Mr Garap Namgyal Bhutia BDO Gyalshing BAC, Mr Kailash Gurung BDO Hee-Martam BAC, Mr Ongdi Tshering Bhutia BDO Dentam BAC, Mr S M Limboo BDO Yuksam BAC, Ms Yangchenla Bhutia State Resource Person Swachh Bharat Mission and staff of Block Administrative Centre Gyalshing.
Ms Yongda Chairperson DWSM in her keynote address termed the day historic for the district with the culmination of the twenty-one-day-long celebration of World Toilet Day on the very occasion of Human Rights Day. She congratulated awardees of the categories under Individual Household Latrine( IHHL) and Community Sanitary Complex (CSC) for their exceptional work.
Ms Yongda articulated that without an appropriate toilet facility there is no dignity and added that the importance of such a facility in households, schools and in the community is crucial. She further emphasised the aspect of keeping the school toilets clean and even suggested sensitising students about the beneficial attributes of doing the same in their household.
Ms Yongda commended ADC Dev. Gyalshing and BDO Gyalshing for their efforts in converging and making the initiative exemplary in the district.
Ms Yangchenla Bhutia State Resource Person Swachh Bharat Mission deliberated on the World Toilet Day Campaign in the district from its inception and informed on the initiative's aspirations in the district.
At the celebration, Awards and certificates were distributed in the category of Individual Household Latrine( IHHL) and Community Sanitary Complex (CSC).
In, Block level IHHL category certificate recipients were Mr Mon Bdr. Limboo of Gerethang, Mr Narayan Kumar Rai of Yangthang, Mr Dhan Maya Rai from Bermiok-Berthang, Mr Kharka Bdr. Chettri from Hee and Ms Pema Choden Lapcha from Melli.
Later, in the block level, CSC Category awards were bestowed upon Mr Karma Druchong Yetshiling Kagyu Gumpa of Maneybung under Dentam BAC, NPST Tikjya- Lingchom-Tikjya under Gyalshing BAC and Chingthang-Berfok under Hee-Martam BAC.
