This award, previously known as the Sikkim Milk Man Award, was bestowed upon him during the Gwala Diwas 2024 ceremony held at Manan Kendra in Gangtok.
Mr Sharma's dedication to the dairy industry is commendable, as evidenced by his ownership of 15 cattle that are integral to milk production. In the past year alone, these dairy cattle have contributed 33,957 kilograms of milk, a proof of his expertise and commitment.
As a token of recognition for his outstanding contribution, he was granted a cash prize of Rs 3 lakh, a fitting acknowledgment of his hard work and success.
The roots of Mr Sharma's devotion to dairy farming can be traced back to his childhood, where he observed his parents toiling tirelessly in the same field. This early exposure instilled in him a strong desire to elevate the family business to greater heights. His efforts have been further supported by the state government, which offers an incentive of Rs 8 per litre to foster the overall growth of his enterprise.
To streamline his operations and enhance efficiency, Mr Sharma has been equipped with essential agro-equipment, such as a chaff cutter and power tiller, courtesy of government initiatives. These tools have not only simplified his daily tasks but also paved the way for a more productive and organised workflow, reflecting his forward-thinking approach to dairy farming.
Looking ahead, Mr Sharma envisions a future where his business thrives on the foundation of high-quality cow breeds, thus ensuring a superior standard of milk production. His unwavering belief in the correlation between hard work, consistency, and self-created opportunities underscores his ethos of perseverance and determination in the face of challenges.
Emphasising the significance of dedication and patience in achieving success, Mr Sharma encourages aspiring dairy farmers to invest their time and efforts wisely, as the industry promises sustainable returns in the long run. His zeal for excellence and his unwavering commitment to the trade serve as an inspiration to budding entrepreneurs in the region.
