Green Walk and Plantation Drive held at Ringhim Mangan to mark Paryavaran Parva 2026
Mangan, July 12: The Social Forestry Division of the Forest and Environment Department, Mangan, organised a Green Walk at Ringhim as part of Sikkim Paryavaran Parva 2026 under the theme "Leave a Green Legacy."
The walk started from Ringhim Gumpa and concluded at the Ringhim Helipad. The programme aimed to spread awareness about protecting nature, promoting sustainable living, and encouraging everyone to work together for a greener future.
The programme was graced by Hon'ble Minister for Social Welfare Department and Area MLA of 31-Lachen Mangan Constituency, Shri Samdup Lepcha,as the Chief Guest. He was joined by Adhakshya Mangan Shri Kado Lepcha, Upadhakshya Mangan Smt. Sonam Kipa Bhutia, OSD, Lachen Mangan, Shri Tshering Wangyal Bhutia, OSD, Dzongu constituency, Shri Roshan Limboo, SDM Mangan Shri Sandeep Kumar, Additional Director Forest, Shri Nischal Gautam, DFO Social Forestry Shri Pempa Dadul Lachenpa, ACF Shri Santosh Bagdas, RO Social Forestry Shri Norden Tshering Bhutia, BO Shri K. L. Tamsangma, Gram Panchayat President and members, MNP Councillors, senior citizens, local dignitaries, HFG members, and officials and staff of the Social Forestry Division.
During the programme, the Hon'ble Minister and other dignitaries participated in a plantation drive by planting different saplings around the Ringhim premises. The plantation symbolised the shared commitment to protecting the environment and preserving nature for future generations.
The Green Walk and plantation drive concluded successfully with enthusiastic participation from all those present. The programme delivered a strong message on the importance of environmental conservation and inspired people to adopt eco-friendly practices and leave a green legacy for the future.
