Governor and Chief Minister Lead 11th International Yoga Day Celebrations in Sikkim
Gangtok, June 21 (IPR): Governor Mr Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang marked the 11th International Day of Yoga at the indoor hall of Paljor Stadium, Gangtok, participating in the collective session.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation live from Visakhapatnam, stating that after 11 years, yoga is now woven into the lives of crores worldwide and called this edition "Yoga for Humanity 2.0," reinforcing its global significance.
The Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang praised Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to elevate India’s ancient practice to international acclaim. He also thanked the National Ayush Mission under the Health & Family Welfare Department for organising the event.
The event was attended by Speaker Mr MN Sherpa, Deputy Speaker Mr Raj Kumari Thapa, Cabinet Ministers, Lok Sabha MP Dr Indra Hang Subba, MLAs, Chief Secretary, DGP, government officials, dignitaries, and students, who collectively promoted the importance of yoga for health and harmony.
