Governor Meets Pipons and Dzumsa Members of Lachen

Governor Mr Om Prakash Mathur met with the Pipons and Dzumsa members to discuss road connectivity and tourism-related issues affecting the area at Dzumsa Hall in Lachen, today.
The Governor assured the community that he would bring these concerns to the attention of the central government. Addressing the issue of loan repayment difficulties, he said that he would engage with bank officials to explore possible solutions.
He praised the residents for constructing a temporary bridge to restore connectivity and highlighted the community's resilience during the recent floods and commended their efforts to maintain stability during challenging times.
The Governor expressed his commitment to raising concerns regarding the Bharatmala project with the Central Government. He emphasised the importance of timely infrastructure repairs and urged the community to support the District Administration and Army officials in expediting construction and development projects.
He also provided a grant of two lakh rupees to the Pipons and Dzumsa members.
District Collector Mr Anant Jain (IAS) outlined the challenges faced by Lachen due to road closures and their impact on tourism, providing a clear picture of the situation in the region.
Earlier, Pipon Mr Kassang Lachenpa thanked the Governor for his visit and explained how road closures have affected tourism and the local economy. He requested the Governor’s assistance in negotiating with banks, as many residents are struggling to repay loans due to recent floods.
He also sought support for the proper implementation of Vibrant Village project and the construction of a protective wall in flood-affected areas.
The meeting was attended by several officials, including DC Mangan Mr Anant Jain (IAS), Additional Secretary Raj Bhawan Mr Khemraj Bhattarai, SDM Chungthang Mr Arun Chettri, ACF Chungthang Mr Norden Zangpo Bhutia and Colonel Mr AK Dixit SM Commander 758 BRTF, along with local residents.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks by Pipon Mr Kassang Lachenpa.
